FAMILY/SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP
Are you looking to sponsor a family member to join you in Canada? Onose Immigration Consulting LTD. is here to guide you through the process with expertise and dedication.
Who Can Sponsor?
You may qualify as a sponsor if you meet the following criteria:
– Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency:
Whether you’re a Canadian citizen, a person registered under the Canadian Indian Act, or a permanent resident, you can sponsor eligible relatives.
– Within Stipulated Age Requirement:
You must be at least 18 years old to become a sponsor.
– Actively Living in Canada:
If you’re living outside Canada as a Canadian citizen, you must demonstrate your intention to reside in Canada upon your sponsored relative’s permanent residency. Permanent residents residing outside Canada are ineligible to sponsor.
– On Quebec Residency:
Residents of Quebec must also satisfy Quebec’s sponsorship conditions.
– Financially Capable
You must prove sufficient income to support your spouse or partner’s dependent children. Documentation of financial resources from the past 12 months is required, particularly if the sponsored relative includes a grandchild (refer to subsection 1(3) of the IRPR for details).
You may be ineligible to Sponsor if:
– You were sponsored by a spouse or partner and became a permanent resident less than five years ago.
– Three years haven’t elapsed since your previous spouse or partner obtained permanent residency through sponsorship.
– You’re in default of a previous sponsorship undertaking, immigration loan, performance bond, or family support payments.
– You’re undergoing bankruptcy proceedings.
– You’re receiving social assistance for reasons other than disability.
– You have a criminal record involving violent, sexual offenses, or offenses causing bodily harm to a relative.
– You’re incarcerated or under a removal order.
– You’ve previously applied to sponsor your current spouse, partner, or child, and a decision is pending.
Whom Can You Sponsor?
You can sponsor your:
– Spouse, Common-Law Partner, or Conjugal Partner:
The sponsored individual must be at least 18 years old, and the relationship must be genuine, not solely for immigration purposes. For the Spouse or Common-law Partner in Canada class, cohabitation with you in Canada is required.
–Dependent Child:
Each dependent child must meet the eligibility criteria. If sponsoring multiple dependent children, separate applications for each are necessary. Dependent child applications are processed outside Canada.
